You may by now have heard the
Government announcement on the new Resident Visa Pathway for some temporary
work visa holders and critical purpose visa holders currently in New Zealand. This
is great news for migrants looking to make New Zealand their permanent home
especially at the moment when the world is on hold due to Covid 19. This is also great news for Employers who can
now retain settled, skilled and scarce migrant workers.
Applications will open in two phases from 1 December 2021 and from 1 March 2022 and all applications must be submitted before 31 July 2022.
If you have an eligible visa or have applied for an eligible visa on or before September 29 2021 (and later granted), you maybe able to apply. The Criteria for Residence is either one of the following:
·You have lived in NZ for three or more years; or
·Earn at or above the median wage (currently $27.00 per hour); or
·Work in a role on a scarce list.

The first phase is open for the following:
1.Migrants who have applied before 29 September 2021 for residence under the Skilled Migrant and Residence from Work categories; and
2.Migrants who have submitted a Skilled Migrant Category Expression of Interest and have included dependent children aged 17 years or older on 29 September 2021.
The second phase will be open to all other eligible applicants.
